6. Creative knowledge
Sometime …
It was one of the earliest achievements of Reformation to provide new intellectual possibilities for the everyday people of the Middle Ages.
Knowledge is power. It can be any kind of knowledge we have not already learned. To read and write, master crafts, learning languages or just reading the Scriptures.
It is necessary to learn to acquire knowledge, especially at an impressionable age, that is, in childhood and at a young age.
In the first years of the Reformation, pupils studying in in Germany and Switzerland from all over Europe, took the new doctrines into their home country. Universities of this time were the strongholds of renewal. They were soon followed by reforms in the lower schools. Elementary schools and grammar schools were mostly owned by the church. The ever-expanding network of Protestant schools provided the opportunity for more young people to have a high level of knowledge.
And now...
These spiritual workshops are often hundreds of years old and are mostly famous institutions (Debrecen, Pápa, Sárospatak, Budapest, Szarvas, Békéscsaba, Bonyhád, etc.), and today they are also important educational venues throughout the country. Their detailed presentation would take thousands of pages, but there is a great traveling exhibition about this topic. The exhibition is available on the Internet: "Protestant schools in Hungary" - http://protestansiskola.hu
Of course, it is true that "good priest learns forever ..." Life long learning is necessary for us to work well and efficiently in our professional life, having up-to-date information for the current age.
Of course, the spaces of learning are not just the schools. We can gain additional knowledge in presentations, visiting cultural programs, hiking, hobbies, etc. Practice-oriented training aims not only to have theoretical knowledge, but also to try our abilities in other area.
Tip
What have you wanted to learn for a long time? If you feel you could use the new knowledge, start! Learn something new!
God's word
"That you are to put away, in relation to your earlier way of life, the old man, which has become evil by love of deceit; and be made new in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, to which God has given life, in righteousness and a true and holy way of living. "
(Paul's letter to the Ephesians 4: 22-24)
