The church building is the place to meet God. It is important for the community and for the individual because there is a soul in it. It was built humbly, with active engagement and sweat. Regardless of whether it is a centuries-old building or a new modern temple.
"The greatest beauty of a church building is that it belongs to God. It is His house. The House of Glory. The Holy Spirit's workshop. The interior beauty of the temple lies in the fact that it becomes the property of man. There is happiness, but also a commitment to say "my church". We feel that it is not a legal but a spiritual possession. The temple becomes mine only by constant use. The beauty of the temple shines to me when I can happily say "all my life ..." In youth and in old age, in dreams, in bitter awakening, in effective work, in humiliation and under the cross, I must always live in the Lord's temple. Only in this case can I say: my church. "

Lutheran symbols
Luther's Rose is the symbol of the Lutheran Church, originally a personal sign of Martin Luther, thus authenticating his documents. The symbolism includes Christ in the center, eternal life, purity, faithfulness of God and hope. It symbolizes that we will be really happy when we accept the cross of Christ into our hearts. Our earthly life is temporal as the beauty of the rose. But heavenly happiness is waiting for us, endless as the ring around the Luther Rose symbolizing infinity.
"Whose heart includes the cross of Christ,
Even with thorns the life is rosy,
The blue sky is smiling to him,
And the love of Christ illuminates his life. "
Reformed symbols
 The main image in the creation of the Reformed Church is a lamb holding a flag with its right foot, looking back at the flag. The flag hanging on the golden bar is the symbol of the Swiss confession, the two books on which the lamb stands, symbolizes the Old and New Testaments. The palm tree in the middle is a life-tree motif, but it also expresses strength, resistance and history: in the devastating wars the church stood as an oasis in the desert. The phoenix bird is an allegory of the rugged fate: just like the wonderful bird reborn from its ashes. The Sun is the symbol of immortality and power. And the biblical Word of Reformation added: "If God is with us, who is against us?" (Romans 8:31) |
 Instead of the cross used as the universal symbol of Christianity, which refers to the redemption by Jesus Christ, the star became the most common symbol among Hungarian Reformed Church members. The stars showing God's power and glory can often be met by the Bible reader, but the most well-known is the motif of the Bethlehem star, which proclaims the joyful message of the birth of Jesus, and led the wise men to Messiah.
For centuries Reformed churches have been decorated with stars instead of the cross.
